Hi Donesia and welcome to another edition of MIBW. I hope
everyone has had a great holiday weekend. This is now the last
month of the year so many of us are thinking of our sales for
the remainder of the month, holiday sales, as well as getting
ready for tax season next month.
I plan to have some informative articles on dealing with self
employment taxes, and how you can file taxes for a home based
business.
The new site design is finally finished. Check it out

and while there are still some tweaking to do such as to
finally get my FAQ page together, and one more new section for
the site, then I will be happy :)
Along with the new design, I have added some new sections and
features to Ezine Ad Helper. Read below in the What's New
section for more details, including an end of the year Old
School Special Sale on Ad Prices.
As I mentioned before I am in school now getting my bachelor's
degree in IT (information technology) and although that school
is online (through the University of Phoenix) it still
requires a lot of reading and studying so everything will
happen but I won't put a deadline on anything such as

Teleconferencing (oh yes, this is one of my big plans for
2004, I have been working with Ken McArthur of Affiliate
Showcase and JV alert on getting myself set up with
teleconferencing. Stay tuned for that in 2004)
But again like I said, between school and running around on
interviews for an offline job, I refuse to overextend myself
and just take my time. Now that I realized that I do not want
to be the Next Big Guru (you know we all imagined this at one
point or another), then I can pace
myself the right way.
Hey I could lie to you and promise the world and never deliver
or I can just be me and tell you the truth.
You decide who you choose to deal with online and then make
the best informative decisions based on that action.
Remember no one can make you do what you don't want to do. You
have the final say in everything, whether you belive that or
not.

everyone. You can grab articles from different categories to
use on your site or ezine.
Writers, now you have a new place to submit your articles and

Improve Your Follow Through Marketing
Skills

Are you getting people to your site, but just not
turning out the number of sales you'd like to see? Perhaps
you're not following through with each visitor as much as is
needed.
No matter how good your promotion is, you won't be
taking full advantage of it until you have a complete follow
through plan.
Naturally, there are many ins and outs regarding getting more
sales from your web site. However, let's walk through the
basic plan you should have in place. From there, you'll be
able to adjust all those ins and outs as necessary.
ADVERTISING
The main purpose of advertising is to interest people
enough to get them to your web site. Obvious statement,
I know, but many people try to accomplish too much with
their advertising. It's not the time to try and solicit
sales, just interest.
Lead people to your site by intriguing them with the
main benefit your product or service provides them. Interest
them in what they have to gain by checking out your
site. Then instruct them to do so. Give them a reason and an
instruction to visit your site.
SITE HEADLINE
I don't know how many times I've clicked over to a web
site only to feel completely lost as it had nothing to do
with what first interested me.
Don't lose people! Your promotion piqued their
interest on a specific topic. Mention that topic right in the
title of your web site. Then expand from there. People will
most likely read what you have to say since you've already
interested them with your advertising, but not if they
think you've changed subjects on them.
IMMEDIATE FOLLOW-UP OFFER
Sometimes people are in a hurry. Sometimes they look at
your site and sense a sales message coming on. Sometimes they
just change their mind before your page loads up. Whatever the
reason, people don't always read your site.
However, what if you could offer them an immediate free
taste of what it is you're offering? Offer free information by
way of an ecourse, ezine subscription, or ebook download. Or
offer a way to get a free sample of your product, or enter a
contest to win free products.
Whatever it is, do it immediately. Design some way to
capture the name and email address of your site visitor
as soon as possible. This will give you a way to follow
up on the initial interest you created in them from your
advertising, even if they don't read through the
message on your site.
EXPAND ON YOUR MAIN BENEFIT
From there, expand on the main benefit you first
offered to them through your advertising and site headline.
Give them more to go on. Relate other benefits, full
information about your product, and testimonials of previous
customers, all the time focusing on what they will gain from
your product or service.
SECONDARY FOLLOW-UP OFFERS
Give yourself repeat chances to initiate follow up
contact with your site visitors and to keep them interested in
what you have to offer. Mention your initial follow-up offer
again, offer other related information, resources,
descriptions, testimonials, ezine subscriptions,
contests, whatever. Do your best to try and capture the name
and email address of each visitor to your site in such a
format that you can stay in contact with that person over
time.
SUMMARY
Remember the first benefit you used to attract people's
attention to your site in the first place? Don't
forget to include that in a summary of your product's benefits
at the end of your sales copy. It was what interested them in
the first place, right? Don't forget to include it in a
re-cap of what you are offering.
CONCLUSION
Everything varies according to what you are trying to
sell, of course. At times, selling is not what you are
trying to accomplish with a web site either. However, these
basics remain the same. They are the essence of follow through
Internet marketing, and they can help you achieve
better results from your promotion.
Ask yourself how you can improve the way you follow
through with visitors to your site and I'm sure you'll soon be
seeing better results.

10 Non-Business Strategies for Business Success

1. You are separate from your business.
Very often entrepreneurs, professional practitioners and
small business owners are so absorbed by their work that
they are unable to differentiate between their job and
themselves, between their work and their lives. Remember
that your business is the means to achieving the goals in
your life; it is not your life.
2. The 'whole' person goes to work every day.
Have you ever tried to leave your right arm at home when you
go to work in the morning? It's a ridiculous suggestion..
Yet that is exactly what we expect of ourselves and those
who work for us. This is not about allowing personal issues
to interfere with productivity. It's about acknowledging
that your whole self shows up. We tend to work a lot harder
when we feel heard and acknowledged. Instead of interfering
with productivity, it will generally boost productivity.
3. You can demand dignity, but you have to earn respect.
There are basic common courtesies that everyone is entitled
to. The rest you have to earn. If you think about the
people that you respect, you will soon realize that you
respect them because of who they are and what they do, not
because of 'what' they are. They may come to your notice
because of their role, but it is their actions that command
respect.
4. Your actions speak louder than your words.
Specifically, what you reward speaks louder than words. Many
business initiatives have failed because management didn't
reward the behavior it espoused. And what gets rewarded
gets repeated. What doesn't get 'punished' is also
important in this regard.
5. You can make wise business decisions and treat people
with respect at the same time.
Sometimes it is necessary to make some very difficult
bottom-line decisions. Most people, when given the
opportunity, can stand back and say 'that makes sense'
or even 'that makes the most sense'. People are capable
of doing this even when their jobs are impacted. What some
businesses don't understand is that HOW you implement the
decision is often more important than WHAT decision you
make. Ultimately, people don't talk about the fact that
they lost their job, they talk about how they were treated
in the process of losing their job. It's an important
distinction that affects the reputation of the company
involved.
6. Lead your associates; Manage your systems.
The businesses that are most successful are those that
understand the difference between people and systems.
Systems operate at maximum effectiveness when they are
managed tightly; people operate at maximum effectiveness
when they are led and inspired.
7. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate.
Letting your associates, customers, vendors, backers, family
know 'What, When, Where, How and Why'. Communicating
fully - even when it's about why you changed your mind -
creates trust.
8. Have a compelling vision.
Everybody, including you, needs a good reason to go to work
every day. Get crystal clear about your vision and then
share it with everyone. Help them understand and buy into
it. This is often overlooked and considered as taking time
away from the business. If you are the leader, this is your
most important role. In addition to giving your associates a
clear sense of purpose, it ends up saving you time as
others make better choices (that is, choices in line with
your direction and vision) on a daily basis.
9. Say 'Thank You' Often.
You are not the only one that likes to be acknowledged. The
more often you say 'thank you' - to individuals up, down
and across the organization - the more you will enhance
your relationships and your reputation. The strongest
leaders say 'thank you' often.
10. Learn, Stretch, Grow.
Become committed to life-long learning. This applies to
what you do for a living (technical abilities), how you do
it (innovative systems and structures), how you implement
it (behavioral competencies), and stuff you just want to
know (personal development, arts, whatever). This will keep
you current in your present position and prepare you better
for any changes down the road.
