Hi everyone and welcome to another edition of MIBW. I received a lot of responses about the scam refunds out there and also on some other shady deals online. Valerie DiCarlo sent me an email on a bad experience she had with an ebook she purchased. When I read her email, I knew that she was not the only one who had a problem with this product and with her permission I have posted the letter in today's issue so you can see for yourself.

Please note that I have not purchased the ebook so I cannot speak for her or anyone else. If you want to share your experience with her, her email address is at the bottom of the letter.

I thank her for sharing this info. So many people are afraid to speak their minds for fear of being "branded" and its good to see more people like Valerie.

Since the new buzz in town is List Fire and yes I am a member, I am happy to see that it didn't turn into some type of feeding frenzy. I have been a member for almost two weeks and so far I have 176 people in my downline. I am so surprised to even see this number, especially I always do bad on downlines, which is why I stopped participating in them, but its free and you don't have to donate one of your children just to join, so why not??


But again I still see people relying on everyone else's products and services to make them money and I tell you every Marketer out there who has been online more than a year will tell you this. Own your own product.

There are plenty of Super Affiliates out there who are great at what they do but ask many of them if that is honestly their only source of income.

Might be surprised to hear the truth.

Valerie DiCarlo here to pass on some information to
you.

We're all out here for the same purpose... to make a
living online. I recently encountered a situation that
everyone should know about... it unfortunately, was
not a good one. I'm writing today to warn/share my
experience w/you as to alert others so that what
happened to me will NOT happen to anyone else!

Without getting into the gory details here (if you
want the whole story, email me and I'll relate it to
you), I have had a very BAD experience w/Stephan
Ducharme - the "free ad guru" and his so-called
customer service. Do NOT, purchase ANYTHING from this
guy or his company, Virtual Contact, Inc.

They do NOT honor their money-back guarantee... and
folks, they HAVE your credit card information!

I know Stephan Ducharme has been around for a while
and many ezine owners/publishers have gotten behind
him... helping make him get richer by being affiliates
to his eCourse, "How To Get 1 Million Visitors On Your
Web Site without paying a dime in advertising". He has
many publishers in joint venture with him so he can
get free advertising... so my complaint has gone on
"deaf" ears.

PLEASE be warned: this guy, Stephan Ducharme, is NOT
honest and does NOT do business in an honest, ethical
way.

His company, Virtual Contact, Inc. has practically NO
customer service, so if you write to the email address
on the site, you get no response. If you write to
Stephan himself at the email address he gives on his
site, you get no response. And of course, there is NO
contact phone number on his site or eCourse
anywhere... a DEFINITE red flag!

I am personally in the process of reporting him to the
BBB and any Net scam site I can... and if they will
allow, place letters of warning in ezines that I
belong to.

After I read the letter Valerie sent me, I thought to myself, that Publishers and Webmasters have to be careful who we do business with. Don't accept every Joint Venture that comes your way. 

Don't be afraid to say " I would like to review the product before I consider associating my name with your product."

I think we are so happy to see a 50% commission or a copy of an ebook and we don't even consider the possibilities of any future errors.

I also think we tend to get so flattered that we were chosen to take part of a joint venture, we don't even think twice about it, especially for the new publishers. Trust me, many joint ventures are not hand picked. Some just collect the email addresses, and a publishers first name and ezine name for personalization, and then there is a mass mailing. 


When I see joint venture offers go to my very old myibizhelper address, then I know it's junk.

Now I have enjoyed great success with many joint ventures with Kevin Bidwell, Doc Phelps, Anand Iyer, Diane Hughes, Glenn Gordon, Dean Brenner and many more. They took the time to answer all my questions, they tailored things according to my site, my ezine, etc. 


I have seen so many publishers spend so much time endorsing someone else's product, you swear it is their product. 

Now I love their dedication and their drive. Every Affiliate owner wants someone like that in their program but what if all those efforts are for nothing. What if that program is gone, what do you do. 

That is why I wrote the article Stop Renting Your Profits to get some people to understand that you should look at affiliate income as a benefit, not a necessity.



Last week we discussed all those refund scammers out there and why the payment companies always seem to believe we are guilty before we even have a chance to explain.

Well maybe that is a good thing....

We tend to forget that if these rules were not in place to begin with, then all the scammers would have a field day with us.

What I would like to see is a better system to check the validity of a buyer complaint similar to offline stores.

I know it is easier dealing with complaints offline since there is human interaction and technically we are just known by our IP addresses online.


We already have enough on our plates as is, why make it harder.

There has to be a balance for us, the small business person who already knows how hard it is for us online.

Sp^m filters, refund scams, junk email, pay to send email companies hounding us down

Always trying to keep up with the Internet Jones'

Trying to keep the customer happy while maintaining a profit.
Bouncing emails, search engines, affiliate programs

Paypal, clickbank, merchant accounts.
Writing articles, writing ebooks, finding a list host

Grabbing a Sale on Monday, Broke By Tuesday.

Finding a web host. 
Pay per click, Pay per lead, safe lists, downlines, forced matrixes, sales copy. Cgi scripts,php scripts.

Promotion, promotion, marketing, and more promotion.

All in a day's work for the Blue Collar Entrepreneur.

For all of you who are making money from affiliate programs and
other money making programs, congratulations. Affiliate programs and other money making programs can help you supplement your income online. I should know. Not only am I a member of various affiliate programs, but I also run my own affiliate program as well. So don't think this is an anti-affiliate program article.


Notice, I Said Supplement Your Income.


Now what are you going to do the day you get that email that says

"Thank you for your participation in our affiliate program, but
we have decided to discontinue this product, and effective
immediately you can no longer spend all your time promoting my
product. Have a nice day"

So what are you going to do. You have spent all your time
promoting this product. Your entire ezine is focused on this
product.

Now what are you going to talk about? Now where are your profits going to come from?

Remember a long time ago, every successful marketer told you one thing


If you want to succeed online, you need to have your own product or service that you own outright 100% or you will never achieve marketing success.

I am not referring to products that you have the rights to resell and reprint. This a great money maker as I have ebooks that I resell myself, but you know what. That's not my main source of income.

Why?

I didn't write this ebook. If the author sets a certain criteria for their material, you have no choice but to comply since it is not your material in the first place.

The benefits of owning your own product or service online are
endless. You make the rules. you collect all the profits, end of story..

When I first started out, I heard that same line, and said to
myself " I can't invent software or develop some sort of service, I'll just rely on these affiliate programs."

Didn't even care what the product was, just as long as it had a
high commission, you can be sure I signed up for it.

REALITY CHECK

Everyone else was promoting the same thing. By the time I got
around to promoting it, no one cared, and I was lucky to see $10!

I had to use their material to promote, had to stick to their
guidelines. Even if I was successful, it dawned on me that I am
helping to promote someone else's products and services.

So I thought about what I can do to carve a niche in this world
of marketing. If I can't think of a product to come up with, what about a service? That's why I came up with Ezine Ad Helper.com


You see my original website My IBiz Helper is great but I didn't have anything unique to offer my visitors, so I came up with Ezine Ad Helper.

It is not a reseller of another ad coop, or anything else like
that.

of business, I thought realistically about what I wanted to do.

Take stock of your skills, abilities, all of your previous jobs, and the skills that you have learned online before. If you have had any previous sales experience, then half the battle is won.

There are various products and services that you can do to appeal to the online community. It is not as hard as you think.

Now in terms of making millions, well that's another story. Like any real business, you will be lucky to see your first profit anytime soon, but remember nothing comes handed to you.

Web Design, Desktop Publishing, Script Installation, Web Hosting, Writing Sales Copy, Graphic Design, Resume Creation, Virtual Assistants, get the idea..


SO ARE YOU SAYING THAT AFFILIATE PROGRAMS DON'T WORK?

Please don't get me wrong. If I thought affiliate programs didn't work I wouldn't have one for my own site. Here is what I figured out:

If you have your own product or service, then select only a few
key affiliate programs that will compliment your main product or service.

Stop signing up for everything just because it offers a high
commission. Look for solid products to enhance what you are
already offering. After all, I don't expect to see an ad for
tobacco at a children's website so think before you sign up..

If you cannot take this first simple step of owning your own
product or service outright, then you are already placing strikes against you in your path to Internet Marketing Success..

So now you can ask yourself after reading this...

WHICH OR WHAT? By Virginia Rounding

It seems that the word ‘which’ has rather fallen out of favor these days, to be replaced by ‘what’. A question like this one, which I came across in an ezine’s trivia section recently, leaps out at me as just not sounding right:

‘What European country was the first to establish 
a system for health insurance for its workers?’

It seemed so clear to me that it should read: ‘Which European country was the first etc etc…?’ that I felt I had to analyze why.

Principally, ‘which’ is used to differentiate between things in a way that ‘what’ isn’t. For example, you would say ‘What is this?’ or ‘What are these?’, but when you’re then looking at a number of things and trying to distinguish between them, you would say ‘Which of these things does so-and-so?’ or ‘Which thing is this?’ So ‘which’ has to do with selecting one thing out of a number of things, whereas ‘what’ is more likely to refer to one thing alone. 

Having asked the question ‘Which European country was the first to do this or that?’, you might then ask ‘And what precisely did this country do?’ ‘What’ can be used correctly when referring to plural things, but ‘which’ is more likely to be correct when you are evoking a comparison.

One rule of thumb, I think, is to determine whether the word ‘of’ could be added to the question without making nonsense of it. It would still make sense to ask ‘Which of the European countries was the first?’ whereas no one would ask (I hope) ‘What of the European countries was the first?’

Other examples of ‘which’ and ‘what’ questions might be:

‘What are you having for supper?’ but ‘Which would you prefer for supper – fish or meat?’ ‘What do you want to achieve with your online business?’ but ‘Which affiliate program have you found most helpful to your business?’ ‘What are the ways of making money online?’ but ‘Which way is the most successful?’

I readily concede that this is not the most important grammatical point in the world – people will know what you mean if you use ‘what’ when ‘which’ might have been preferable – but for pedants like me (and there are plenty of us online) a ‘what’ instead of a ‘which’ leaps off the screen at us, and can make all the difference between our reading the text in front of us or deleting it immediately.
