Hello everyone, this seems to be a Google issue and it is. I
want to focus on different ways that Google can help and also
how it can also create problems. The first article deals with
adsense myths.

How many times have you typed in a search word and ended up on
a site with only adsense ads and some crappy article, but
nothing of any real value and it you certainly didn't find what
you were looking for? This is so true these days with the
millions of adsense sites popping up. People have to remember,
it is not about the adsense ads, it is about the
content.

So now I will send you to my url for my link to some adsense
book or template which I am getting a hefty commission
from......

Okay that was a B.S. marketers joke there, (not sure what I am
talking about, read an article I wrote some time ago and it

No I don't plan on giving you a link to any one of those ebooks
or software or templates. There are enough of them floating
around online, I am sure you have gotten at least ten emails
about them today alone.


The second article deals with Google analytics. It is a pretty
useful piece of information that really helps to break down the
stats of my websites. I have always used awstats that comes
with my cpanel for my hosting but analytics really shows a lot
more and it is not done in tons of geek speak, plain english
thank you.

And of course, it is free so that is right up my alley :)

So enjoy today's articles everyone, hope you learn something
from them.

By the way, this weekend I graduate from college with my
associates degree and I move on to get my bachelor's degree

Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy And Mesothelioma? Adsense Myths Discussed.

Everywhere I turn these days I’m seeing ads for websites being
sold proclaiming that they’ve optimized that particular site
for an outrageously priced keyword, such as Mesothelioma (a
cancer of the lungs caused by asbestos). In fact, I’ll bet that
if you did a search at this very moment on EBAY, you would find
at least one auction for such a website, probably claiming that
you’ll make thousands of dollars a month with it if purchased.
But don’t send them that Paypal payment just yet, you might
want to read a little further.

In fact, some companies and law firms ARE paying upwards of
$100 for specific keywords in the Adwords program, but that
does not mean that you, as an Adsense publisher, will receive
anywhere near this payout per click. In fact, you may end up
being severely penalized and paid very poorly for that search
phrase.

Let‘s do another search. Hop on over to Google and search the
term “Mesothelioma”. As of this writing, there are over 5
million results. Just a few months ago there were far less. All
this tells me is that many believed the hype, and are now
competing for a very small market. Won’t they be surprised when
they find out how much that click actually pays. I’ll bet it’s
less than a buck.

Let’s understand one thing. Google is smart. Period. They have
spent a truckload of money in developing this program. And they
have made BILLIONS from it. If you had something that was
making you several billion dollars a year, wouldn’t you work
hard to protect the customers that were paying you? You can bet
Google is, and they are watching your web traffic’s quality
closely. If you’ve put up a page that is worthless to the
surfer, worthless to the advertisers, and just plain worthless
overall, you will be penalized for it financially.

The fact of the matter is, there’s a reason why advertisers are
willing to pay an extreme cost per click for certain terms.
It’s just that there aren’t very many searches for them. Some
terms may only have 100 or less searches a month, internet
wide! So these advertisers are willing to shell out the dough
in order to get that tiny market.

But it’s just not smart business for the little guy to chase
these terms. There are a ton of terms out there that pay
between $1 and $5 per click that are an absolute goldmine. For
example, one of the terms on this site: http://www.thegiftedone.com does quite well for me. Does it pay
in the triple digits? Of course not. But I’ll take the smaller
paying keywords every time. There are more searches overall for
them, and more people actually looking for the content I have
to offer. The result is clear. More clicks, more money.

My advice to you on this is simple. Quit chasing the myths,
quit searching for that one word that’s going to pay you $500 a
click. Focus on building strong websites that are informative
for the surfer, and more importantly, productive to your bottom
line. Then build as many of them as you can. In time you’ll see
just how far a PPC program like Adsense can take you, but only
if you work for it.

Google Analytics is a product based on the popular web traffic
analytics Urchin platform, as a result of Google’s earlier
acquisition of Urchin. As a surprise to the webmaster
community, Urchin’s technology, which is one of the most
complete and well designed web analytics software in the
industry, is being given at no cost to webmasters when they
sign up at www.google.com/analytics. This move has raised
suspicion as to what are Google’s motives and what will be the
consequences of Google having so much website traffic data in
their power. Currently, Google can track traffic only through
the traffic they refer from their portals and an estimate
through the Google toolbars installed in people’s computers.
However, this toolbar is not very representative of the general
population, since most users are webmasters trying to see the
PageRank value for web pages displayed in the toolbar. With
direct traffic data from websites, Google could potentially add
an enormous array of variables to their search engine
algorithm. This has webmasters concerned.

Many webmasters, despite the search engine ranking
possibilities that this tool could bring, are jumping in the
wagon to get a slice of Google’s "gift" to the webmaster
community. To many webmasters, their only source for traffic
intelligence and reporting was through free tools available,
such as Webalizer and Awstats. These tools were not too precise
in reporting and gave straightforward information like visits,
page views, search terms, and country. This data was valuable
to some extent, but lacked many web analytics that were only
provided through expensive services from Urchin and Webtrends.
Google Analytics changes everything, something that could hurt
Webtrends’ sales tremendously.

With Google Analytics, webmasters have many convenient and
competitive features. Google Analytics provides a single
control panel for all of your websites. Here is some analysis
that is provided:

1. In the main control panel, the user is presented with an
executive summary that summarizes the most important traffic
data – visits and pageviews, percentage and number of one time
visitors and returning visitors, geographic distribution of
visits, and source of visits.

2. Additional to the Executive summary, the user has an option
to these condensed reports: Conversion, Marketing, and Content
summaries. Conversion summary presents the amount of visitors
and their conversion rate, as well as the conversion rates for
established goals. Marketing summary displays the top five:
sources of traffic, search keywords, and campaign based.
Lastly, the Content summary identifies the top five: entry
points, exit points, and most visited pages.

3. Finally, the system provides for very specific reports
divided into two categories: Marketing Optimization and Content
Optimization. Both categories also have sub categories. This in
turn goes into very specific details and analysis. Sub
categories for Marketing Optimization include: Unique Visitor
Tracking, Visitor Segment Performance, Marketing Campaign
Results, and Search Engine Marketing. Content Optimization goes
into sub categories that include: Ad Version Testing, Content
Performance, Navigational Analysis, Goals & Funnel Process, and
Web Design Parameters.

As you can see, Google Analytics isn’t anything like the free
traffic statistics tools out in the market. Google Analytics is
a full traffic analysis tool that will provide very valuable
information to webmasters and businesses about their website’s
performance. No other free program can match Google Analytics
diverse set of reports. If you can live with the fact that
Google will have knowledge of all of your website’s traffic,
including where they come from, how well your marketing efforts
convert, and how Google performs against other sources of
traffic you receive, then start taking advantage of this
powerful tool.
